License types

Everyone who creates or views a report that contains Icon Map Slicer needs to be covered by a license. Which type you need depends on where the report is used.

The visual first looks for a user license, then for a license key, and shows a license message if it finds neither
How the visual looks for a license

Per user

For reports used in the Power BI service (powerbi.com or Microsoft Fabric) and in Power BI Desktop. Each person who views or creates a report with the map needs a license. Licenses are bought through Microsoft AppSource and assigned to specific users or to Microsoft Entra groups.

Plan Users Monthly, per user Annual, per user
Icon Map Slicer S1 1 to 24 $5.00 $55.00
Icon Map Slicer S2 25 to 149 $4.50 $49.50
Icon Map Slicer S3 150 to 999 $4.00 $44.00
  • Prices are in US dollars. Some regions have local market pricing, and Microsoft charges in the currency of your payment profile.
  • Annual purchases include one month free.
  • Plans include the Icon Map basemaps.
  • For more than 1,000 users, contact sales@tekantis.com.
  • No license key is involved. Power BI tells the visual that the signed-in user has a license.

See Purchasing for the steps, and the Purchasing FAQ for assigning licenses and paying by invoice.

An Icon Map Slicer user license covers Icon Map Slicer. Icon Map Pro has its own licenses. The free developer license is the exception: it covers both visuals.

Usage-based

Unlimited users. The price is based on how often data is loaded into the visual. The license is a key that you add to the report, so it works where Microsoft cannot provide user licenses, such as Power BI Embedded and Publish to web. Contact sales@tekantis.com.

Capacity and enterprise

  • Capacity: license a whole Power BI Premium or Microsoft Fabric capacity, for unlimited use of Icon Map Slicer in reports deployed to it, shared internally or externally. Pricing is based on the capacity size.
  • Enterprise: license your entire Power BI estate. Pricing is bespoke.

Contact sales@tekantis.com.

Power BI Embedded

Power BI Embedded lets organizations embed reports in a web portal or application using the Power BI Embedded SDK. Microsoft's user licensing does not work there, so Icon Map Slicer uses a usage-based or capacity license and a license key. Contact sales@tekantis.com for further information.

Publish to web

Publish to web makes a report available on the web without a sign-in, as a direct link or embedded in a web page. Icon Map Slicer uses a usage-based or capacity license and a license key there. Contact sales@tekantis.com for further information.

GCC (US government cloud) and regional clouds

Microsoft's licensing service does not support GCC or regional clouds such as China. You can buy and assign licenses through AppSource in these environments, but the visual cannot validate them.

For these environments, do not buy standard licenses through AppSource. Contact sales@tekantis.com instead.

Power BI Report Server

Microsoft does not support user licenses on Power BI Report Server. Contact sales@tekantis.com for on-premises licensing, including license keys for servers with no internet access. See Power BI Report Server (on-premises).
