Selection and analysis tools

Icon Map includes map controls for selecting and analyzing features directly on the map.

Selection tools

A single Selection tools control offers several ways to select features:

  • Single select — click individual features.
  • Lasso — draw a freeform shape to select everything inside it.
  • Circle / radius — select within a radius of a point.
  • Drive-time — select everything reachable within a travel time or distance (see below).

You can choose whether selection uses Within (features entirely inside the area) or Intersects (also features touching the area). Selected features highlight on the map and cross-filter any charts that share their data.

Travel-time (drive-time) analysis

The drive-time selection mode and the standalone Travel time control let you click anywhere and instantly see how far you can travel within a time or distance limit — with a live preview as you move — then select everything inside that catchment. Travel times are estimated from road-class speeds (no live traffic), and catchments can be saved to OneLake. For travel-time as a data-driven layer, see Travel time.

Measure

The Measure control lets you click points on the map to measure the distance along a path, in metric or imperial units, with an option to measure across the terrain surface and see an elevation profile.

Routing

Road-snapped routing powers driving lines, travel-time catchments, and vehicle track-snapping — all computed in your browser from map data. More advanced route optimization is on the product roadmap.
