Camera tours

Where a bookmark captures a single view, a camera tour tells the story between views: an ordered sequence of stops the map flies through, with timing and captions. Tours are ideal for guided walkthroughs, executive briefings, and kiosk-style published maps.

Manage tours from the Tours menu in the ribbon, next to Bookmarks.

Recording a tour

Create a named tour, then build its stops:

  • Capture the current view as a stop - position the map, then add it to the tour.
  • Reorder stops by dragging.
  • Set a per-stop hold time (how long to dwell) and travel time (how long the move takes), in seconds.
  • Choose the motion for each move: fly (an arced flight), ease (a direct glide), or jump (an instant cut).
  • Add an optional caption to a stop, shown as an overlay while the tour holds there.

Playing a tour

Tours play in the editor and in published maps. In the published viewer, a playback bar shows play/pause, progress dots for the stops, and the current caption.

  • If the viewer moves the map during playback - panning, zooming, or rotating - the tour pauses rather than fighting for the camera.
  • Viewers who prefer reduced motion get instant cuts between stops instead of flights.

Saving

Tours are saved with the map, like bookmarks, so a published map carries its tours with it.
