Panels, text boxes, images, and buttons
Alongside charts and slicers, Icon Map offers layout and content visuals for building richer map experiences.
Panels
A Panel is a movable, resizable, styleable container that other visuals are dragged into. Panels let you group related content — a title, a chart, and a slicer, say — and control how and when it appears. Panels have four modes:
- Always visible — the panel is shown at all times.
- Collapsible — a drawer docked to an edge of the map that viewers can open and close.
- On selection — the panel appears when a feature is selected, showing detail about it (a detail or "popup" panel).
- Tooltip — the panel follows the cursor as a viewer hovers over features on trigger layers.
Leaf visuals
Inside panels (or on their own) you can place:
- Text box — static text, or a data-bound field with formatting, prefix/suffix, and number formatting.
- Image — from a URL, a data field, or a file in OneLake, with fit and alignment options.
- Button — an interactive button.
- Location — shows captured or currently selected coordinates.
Together these let you build labelled cards, detail popups, and information drawers that respond to what a viewer selects or hovers.
Next steps
- Charts and Slicers — the visuals you place in panels.
- Write-back & editing — editable panels that let viewers update data.
