Access Tiers
Catalog layers are organised into four tiers that control access and pricing. Each tier is stored in a separate storage container, and authentication is handled automatically by the visual.
Basic
Included free with every Icon Map visual.
Basic layers are essential boundary and reference datasets — country outlines, major administrative divisions, and commonly used reference layers. These layers are provided for free, and no additional license is required.
Standard
Requires an Icon Map Pro or Icon Map Slicer licence.
Standard layers offer broader geographic and thematic coverage — additional attributes and more up front processing may be required to provide these layers.
Standard layers require a catalog add-on user license, or a usage-based license. On a usage-based plan, standard layers consume additional credits. Pricing to be confirmed when this preview feature goes into general availability.
Premium
Requires a usage-based licence plan.
Premium layers are high-detail and specialist datasets — very fine-grained boundaries, detailed infrastructure, and niche datasets. These are available to users on a usage-based pricing plan.

Commercial
Available under separate subscription.
Commercial layers are third-party licensed datasets from external data providers. These require a separate subscription arrangement.
- Preview: All commercial layers have a free watermarked preview available, so you can assess the data before purchasing.
- Full access: Once you have a commercial data subscription, your API key is linked to the specific datasets you've licensed. The visual sends your API key with tile requests and access is granted automatically.
